” Arabic, Persian And Turkish Word In Bengali Literature ” this book tries to list the Arabic Persian and Turkish words, particularly those which are used in Bengali literature, medieval or modern. In doing so, Prof. Mojumdar selected most representative Bengali writers of the medieval and modern period. By medieval, it means the period which covers Muslim rule in Bengal, and by modern, the British and the post British period up to the present day. It is obvious, therefore that here ‘Bengal’ means the whole of undivided Bengal comprised of West Bengal and Bangladesh. There are more Hindu writers in this list than Muslim writers just to emphasis that these words are not used exclusively by the Muslims of Bengal but by an overwhelmingly large number of Hindu writers who use Bengali as the medium of expression.
